Ray Leslie drops Single 'CLOSE 2 YOU'

Following the release of her first single, ‘KANSAS’, up-and-coming hip-hop artist Ray Leslie strikes again with her second single, ‘CLOSE 2 YOU’.

A beautiful tribute to love, the Auckland-based rapper writes about a deep connection she shares with somebody, masterfully combining the use of realistic storytelling and metaphoric imagery. As always, the prolific lyricist is able to beautifully express the feel of the track, which in this particular instance, is a feeling of intimacy. Melodic vocals accompanying the lofi/dream-like beat breaks this track beyond hip-hop. Ray experiments with her singing vocals and adds an alternative-pop twist, showcasing her versatility in this two-minute track.

Ayla Wesley drops her debut Single 'Salamanders'

Inspired, thoughtful, and strong, Ayla Wesley is a New Zealand indie folk/rock artist that is passionate about sharing her stories through wavey melodies and dynamic rhythms. Since 2016 Ayla has been discovering her sound and the potential to share about what she believes in. She has gained a passion for playing gigs for the last year two years in Tauranga and Auckland

Her debut single “Salamanders” is a light-hearted summery tune that is bound to get you singing along, produced by Jacob Gerritsen (Marmalade Skies) and accompanied with a music video directed by upcoming filmmaker Finn Lloyd (Directed DOONS - Shallows). This song was the beginning of discovering her sound and the catalyst for her writing to truly blossom. Inspired by Middle Kids, There's a Tuesday, Stella Donelly, The Beths, Alice Phoebe lou, and more - Ayla is set to make an impact with her strong vocals and ability to dive deep into narrating the ups and downs of growing up through songwriting.

Avya drops her breakout single 'In Love with Broken'

One of Aotearoa's most-promising musical talents has emerged from the sleepy, seaside town of Mangawhai to announce herself as an artist ready to capture the nation's hearts and minds with the release of her breakout single ‘In Love with Broken’

With a voice that flawlessly commands the full spectrum of musical and emotional expression, 21-year-old Avya pairs this talent with a catalogue of mature, dynamic songs and over a decade worth of stage experience.

The result of this rare combination is a performer that can take an audience with them on a journey through songs that range from energetic, groove-driven pop, sultry R&B and raw, story-driven ballads.  Since the age of nine, Avya has been performing on streets and stages across Aotearoa, honing her craft and throwing herself into discovering her artistic essence.

In 2021 this now accomplished singer and multi-instrumentalist took the spotlight in TVNZ's Popstars, a television show that provided valuable artist-development opportunities, as well as national exposure. Since then, Avya has been the recipient of a much-coveted New Music Development grant from NZ On Air which has enabled her to work with established producer Joseph Faris (Ezra Vine, Daily J, Julius Black) on a new collection of songs due for release in late 2021 and across 2022; with a string of live performances planned to accompany them.

With influences ranging from Lianne La Havas and Emily King, to Bill Withers and Lana Del Ray, Avya's artistry is modern, intelligent and stands strong with the new generation of empowered women in music.
